Aerating

How does aerating help my lawn?

Aerating your lawn alleviates soil compaction and reduces thatch build-up by creating holes in the turf, allowing essential air, water, and nutrients to reach the root zone

When is the best time to aerate my lawn?

While it might be tempting to aerate during the summer when you’re most active in the garden, it’s actually best to aerate in the autumn.   You should aerate your lawn before a feed or lawn dressing to help it stop becoming more compact and will allow the turf to grow into the holes.  Using a simple garden fork should be sufficient or you can invest in a specialist aerator tool.
